Doubles Rules

Rules for Doubles:

1. Tournament kick off on 9/10
2. All matches will be best of 3 sets
3. Points :             Win: 4 points for a win
4.                         Lose: 0 points for losing in two sets, 1 point for losing in three sets
5. 1vs4, 2vs3 semis
6. Let’s try this out: If the match is not played on the scheduled day because of a request to postpone, we will count this as forfeit and if the match is not played by 10/30, the result stands.
7. Let’s try this out: If the match is not played on the scheduled day because of any other reason other than request to postpone, each team to get 2 points and if the match is not played by 10/30, the result stands.
8. If a match is stopped for any reason in the middle of a set, the match will resume from the beginning of the set. Completed sets will stand counted.
9. All players will try to play the matches either at Mission or Ohlone
10. Two way tie is resolved by the winner of the match played between the teams
11. Three way tie is resolved by a) one set play off between the teams b) if still a tie, number games won by the team in the play offs c) if still a tie, coin toss will decide the winner 
12. Winner/runner to get prize
13. No Sunday match for Jessie/John/Binu/Mathew to the maximum extent possible
14. No Saturday match for Raman to the maximum extent possible
15. Lot of scope for completing rescheduled match
16. No Umpire for any match. Let the players / teams work it out amongst them. Volunteer umpiring left for the players. Only the four player views will be considered by the arbitration committee.
17. Arbitration committee to resolve any dispute (suggested names: Neel, Selva and Arun). The committee can reach out to Raj for opinion. The committee decision is final and binding.
18. Added on 9/30 "Incomplete matches due to unavailability of the court or unplyable conditions should be continued from where it was left off unless both teams agree to play the set/match afresh. If the match is stopped for any other reason, then it is conidered as forfeit. This is applicable ONLY to incomplete matches not for not played matches. The rule for unplayed matches will continue to the same inforce now."
